Zhang Cheng is an independent advocate for disability inclusion and environmental sustainability, leveraging creative approaches to drive systemic change. With experience collaborating across diverse sectors—including NGOs, social enterprises, and intergovernmental organizations such as the ILO and ADB—Zhang excels in facilitating meaningful dialogues and transformative experiences that address today’s most pressing challenges, from fostering inclusiveness to shaping renewable energy policy. Growing up as the child of parents with mental disabilities, Cheng developed a deep-rooted commitment to peer support and justice for marginalized communities. This personal experience inspires her multidimensional approach to advocacy, integrating technology, art, and community-driven solutions to create lasting impact. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Cheng led the development of an online mentoring platform that has supported over 500 individuals with disabilities, offering vital resources such as peer coaching, career guidance, and networking opportunities. She believes that humor can serve as a powerful vehicle for truth and leverages her passion for stand-up comedy and performance art to foster critical conversations, challenge social norms, and drive awareness on inclusion and sustainability. Through the Equity Community, Cheng is eager to collaborate with fellow changemakers to expand participatory art initiatives, engage policymakers, and advocate for climate action and mental health solutions on a global scale.
