Katherine Ann V. Reyes

Katherine Ann V. Reyes (Kathy) is a public health professional, passionate about creating an equitable world enabling everyone to live healthier lives, within a system supporting better choices. She is a Research Assistant Professor and the Program Lead of the Health Promotion Program at the National Institutes of Health, UP Manila. Kathy’s work focuses on generating evidence informing promotive and preventive care policies and strategies, with research areas including healthy consumption, tobacco control and immunization. As a physician, Kathy observed firsthand how poor living conditions perpetuate illness, leading patients to return to hospitals repeatedly. This experience inspired her to shift her focus toward public health, tackling systemic issues at their roots. Determined to expand public health expertise in the Philippines, Kathy not only contributes through her own projects but also co-founded the Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes—a platform empowering health professionals to conduct public health projects in collaboration with government and development agencies. Kathy is keen on learning from fellow researchers and advocates through the Equity Community. She believes that the key to systemic change lies in bridging the gap between research and policy. By strengthening collaboration, dialogue, and accountability, she hopes to help build a movement that drives lasting, impactful change.
