Jomkwan Yothasamut
Jomwan Yothasamut (Jom) is a Health Policy and System researcher interested in advancing social and health equity. She currently leads a research node called Health Security and Policy Evaluation at the International Health Policy Foundation, Thailand, where her work focuses on bridging the gap between policy intent and on-the-ground impact. With over 15 years of experience in health policy development and evaluation in Thailand, Jom has observed how even well-meaning policies can fall short of delivering equitable outcomes. This realization has fueled her mission to ensure that equity considerations are embedded in every stage of policy design, implementation, and evaluation. Jom’s research spans diverse topics, including developing equity indicators for the Thai Health System in Transition Review, studying primary healthcare reforms across Southeast Asia, and training individuals with disabilities in research skills for policy-driven projects. Her work highlights disparities in healthcare access, financing, and outcomes, with a focus on vulnerable populations across age, gender, and socioeconomic lines. Inspired by Thailand’s journey toward universal health coverage, Jom is eager to collaborate with like-minded advocates through the Equity Community. She remains steadfast in her commitment to evidence-based policymaking, believing in the power of collective action to create a more just and inclusive society.
