Ana Leah Cuizon

Ana Leah Cuizon is an academic and community advocate specializing in governance, politics, and social issues. As an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at University of the Philippines Cebu, she bridges her teaching and research with government agencies, leaders, and communities to drive meaningful social impact. She also serves as Chair of the Research Ethics Committee, overseeing student and faculty research to ensure integrity and ethical standards. Beyond academia, Ana leads and collaborates on various research and community initiatives, including the Good Governance for Development project under UP-CIDS, where she provides evidence-based policy recommendations to local and national legislators. Passionate about local, culture-specific solutions for poverty alleviation and health equity, she advocates for stronger, more responsive local health systems. Her late mother’s struggle with breast cancer deeply influenced her commitment to improving healthcare access, reinforcing the urgent need for reform. Ana actively contributes to leadership capacity-building as a lead trainer for the Local Health Partnership and Governance Program, a national initiative with the Department of Health aimed at strengthening local health systems. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge and networks through the Equity Community, fostering collaborations to advance research-backed, impactful health solutions.
