WIRUN LIMSAWART
Dr. Wirun Limsawart is a distinguished medical anthropologist and physician currently serving as Head of the Health Research and Research Support Section at the Health Technical Office, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand. He holds a medical degree from Mahidol University and a Ph.D. in Social Anthropology from Harvard University. Dr. Limsawart's research focuses on health equity for marginalized populations, particularly examining tuberculosis care among migrants, refugees, and stateless individuals along the Thailand-Myanmar border. His work employs a "bio-social interaction framework" that integrates biological studies with social analysis to address health disparities. Beginning his career as a rural hospital director, he has extensive experience with healthcare challenges in resource-limited settings. He has contributed significantly to policy discussions on health governance and universal health coverage through his research and advisory roles.
