KUN ZHANG

Kun Zhang is a highly experienced leader in the healthcare industry and a key member of McKinsey China’s healthcare leadership team. He has extensive front-line experience in healthcare system transformation, healthcare information technology, and the development of digital health startups in China. Since introducing consulting services to China’s healthcare sector in 2005, Kun has developed and delivered the first consulting services aimed at public and private hospitals, health governments, and public health institutions.

Throughout his ten years of consulting experience, Kun has led multiple medical brands in China, focusing on strategic planning and local business development. He has played a pivotal role in helping one of the largest health check-up chains implement turnaround and growth strategies, optimize core business functions, and develop new business initiatives. Additionally, he assisted the largest non-public hospital groups in establishing governance systems and portfolio growth strategies, while also advising leading Asian private hospital groups on their China strategies and operational improvements.

In his leadership roles spanning 14 years, Kun has served as General Manager of IT & Management for China Resources Healthcare Group, overseeing operations for over 25,000 beds. He was also the General Manager of the Joint Commission International China Resources Hospital Management Academy, the first global training center for JCI. As the CEO of Spring Rain Doctor Mobile Health Company, he led the company through a successful turnaround and investment acquisition, and he served as the President of Evercare Healthcare Group, a leading medical aesthetics chain. Additionally, Kun was the Chief Strategy Officer and CEO of New Century Health Group, a tech company that successfully went public in Hong Kong.

Kun holds a Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) candidate degree in Health Care Management, Health Care Systems, and Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg School of Public Health. He also earned a master’s degree in health informatics from Warwick University in the UK and a bachelor’s degree in clinical medicine from Peking University in China.
